Aloha Awakenings

by · November 6, 2012

I am home from Hawaii now, but definitely still in Aloha mode. I was attending the Aloha Awakenings retreat on the Laulima farm in Maui. Matthew and Terces Engelheart, the original owners of Café Gratitude, put on this workshop twice a year.

I have been traveling a ton lately, so originally I wasn’t even sure I was up for a trip to Hawaii. I am so glad I went. I experienced a ton of growth in my personal life and was also in Heaven being on this abundant and lush farm eating such fresh food.

Some amazing things I ate right off the land while there (some of which I have never even heard of) include:

-Egg Fruit

-Jackfruit

-Avocados

-Papaya

-Lemonade Fruit

-Mango

-Banana

-Coconut

-Pineapple

-Lilicoi (passion fruit)

-Noni (super stinky but I had to try it)

-Starfruit

-Coffee beans (picked off the tree)

It was a lovely and delicious trip!  I also had a great book to read while traveling; A Course in Weight Loss: 21 Spiritual Lessons in Surrendering your Weight Forever. I highly recommend this book and will be adopting a lot of the principles for my Weight loss Wellness Programs. It doesn’t matter if it is food, alcohol, tobacco, shopping, or any other addiction…. It is all about accepting your beautiful self as perfect. When you realize that you are beautiful and worthy there is no need to over consume bad foods. Those bad foods are just a distraction from who you really are. Sometimes we temporarily forget our beauty, and this book is a great reminder of it. Can you tell I liked it? It is an inspiring read, especially before the holidays.
